ASTM G21 is the standard practice for determining the resistance of synthetic materials to fungi, the purpose is to assess the material's susceptibility to fungal growth under conditions conducive to mold development. Below is the details of the test:
Procedure:
Preparation: Test specimens are inoculated with a mixture of fungal spores.
Environment: Specimens are placed in a warm, humid chamber to simulate conditions ideal for fungal growth.
Observation Period: Typically lasts 28 days.
Evaluation: Fungal growth is rated on a scale from 0 (no growth) to 4 (heavy growth).
Application in Textiles:
Ensures materials maintain integrity and appearance in humid or high-moisture environments.
Protects against deterioration caused by fungi, extending product lifespan.
Relevant for textiles used in healthcare, hospitality, and outdoor settings.
ACT(Association for Contract Textiles) has required ASTMG21(zero growth) for outdoor textiles. (Kindly contact us to ask for the report if needed).
It should be mentioned that Sileather's "Capri" series passed ASTM G21(0 growth). Furthermore, we offer a warranty for pink stains.
